Gisela Pinerio...Intentional Creativity – Self Expression for Inner Growth & Wellbeing - 3rd Dec, 18

I believe everyone has an individual creative spark that when nurtured and given the right tools can grow into a glowing joyful fire. Once that creative fire is lit your consciousness will begin to awaken and then....anything is possible.

Intentional Creativity is just that, creating with intention to unlock that which is within. I’ve been teaching this way for the last two years and I am always amazed at the transformations that occur for people, whether in a group or individual sessions.

Everyone that comes to a class starts with "I’m not really creative", but once you let go and relax, amazing things start to happen... Just like magic. Amazing images come forth to bring information, but also a lot of joy as people rediscover their love of creating in a nurturing environment.

As with everything what you put in you get out. These creative processes can be relatively simple, yet can make profound change and healing. Most of our psychology or counselling are very mind based, but with intentional creativity, whatever is ready to be healed will surface and in that creative act is where it releases from the body and the stories are transformed.

After studying art therapy, I found that this can be such a powerful way of healing, particularly since the use of creativity bypasses the conscious mind and deals directly with the unconscious.

Intentional Creativity can also become a spiritual practice, where you can bring up an inquiry and use whatever materials you have, to explore thoughts and revelations. It’s about becoming conscious and awake and the more people are awake, lives can change, the world can change.

It can also be used purely as a wellbeing tool…just to relax and bring your mind to a different place. Not everyone finds meditating easy, but this way anyone can bring that sense of calm in.

You don’t need to know how to paint or draw (surprisingly you can but haven’t discovered that yet), you just need to be willing to explore and get out of your comfort zone.

Give this a try… on a piece of paper and with a pencil or pen, close your eyes, take a few deep breaths and allow your hand to move around the page as it wants to until you feel you are done. Open your eyes and using colour pencils or markers begin to colour in the spaces. See how you feel after!
